    Report from Brother Chuck
I had a day of absolute rest yesterday (Saturday). I read some, packed some and played with Brown (dog). It was nice not to have to do anything. That is very unusual for me anytime, let alone in Haiti.

Anyway Sunday came around and I was ready to go preach the Word. There is absolutely nothing that I would rather do than to share the message of Christ. I don’t think about anything else except Him. Jojo picked me up about 7:30 am and we headed for Z'Orangé. On the way we picked up Simon to interpret for me. I can speak Creole but not well enough to deliver His message. I know just enough to maneuver about in the country. We arrived about 9:30 and naturally, the singing was heard from the church before we arrived. They start singing and worshipping every morning at 5 a.m. (that’s every morning). I started preaching about 10:30 with a very simple message about how Jesus loves you so much and He wants you just the way you are and He does the changes. I used the example of Slyvest who was a voodoo priest (who was in the church) that accepted Christ and then he asked me to burn all his voodoo materials. He didn’t ask me to burn them first and then accept Christ. There is no difference between Haitians and Americans. We think that one day we will clean our act up and be good enough and then we will go to Church and accept Christ.

They listened intently and many came forward for prayer. Most of the people in this church are already converted.

Afterward we had a delicious Haitian meal prepared by Madame Dorleon (goat, rice, hot slaw, plantain, red sauce, bean sauce and a dessert of coconut fresh from the tree). When we finished eating, Pastor Dorleon and I went over a few things that he needed funding for and then we left to go back to Port-au-Prince.

On the way out of Z'Orangé I knew that I needed to go by and see Daniel (voodoo priest). I missed him the last time and I knew if I didn’t stop by he would ask me in October why I haven’t stopped to see him. He is still lost as ever but does ask me to ask the Americans to continue to pray for him. I told him many years ago that one day I will come to his village and see white crossed painted on his huts instead of demonic painting. He laughs but he doesn’t know my Father. When we finished our visit we left for Port-au-Prince.

Tomorrow I leave to go home. I used to say that I was leaving to go to the real world but I stopped saying that many years ago. This is the real world (Haiti). We live in a fantasy world where we go eat out anytime we want, adjust our air to suit us, have electricity, running water, indoor toilets, automobiles, televisions, computers, refrigerators, just to mention a few things.

There is something to be said for the simple life. You know we really don’t own anything, it owns us and takes up our time; time we could spend with God.

I want to thank everyone that prays and gives to TEM. I could not be here if it were not for you being obedient to our Lord. May God bless you and your family.

    His servant,
    Bro. Chuck

We got up early and headed to Love A Child to pick up our Feed My Starving Children food that is given to us each month so generously by both organizations. We are so blessed to have them help us. We would not be able to feed half of the people we do without their help. Check out their websites; www.fmsc.org and www.loveachild.com. They are wonderful brothers and sisters in the Lord doing wonderful work for His Kingdom.

We arrived at Love A Child about 9 am and tried to crank Gabriel, after Bob had charged the batteries, but Gabriel would not start. We had Reggie pull us with a dozer and Gabriel fired right up. We picked up boxes of food for TLC school (Dottie’s), Pastor Harry’s Church and for the Z'Orangé area. We also send food to the Northwest to two clinics, a church, two orphanages and some families. It is amazing how God multiplies His food. After loading the boxes, I had the blessing of seeing Bobby driving up. Bobby and Sherry gave us the van that the Lord is going to give us when He is ready. The good news is that there is a van, I saw it, I sat in it, it is awesome, we are so, so blessed. We cannot thank them enough but I know God can and will. Check out the photos. George is going to come back to Port when the papers are ready and get the transfer done before I return October 27 so we will be able to use it for the team. It will be so nice to have a smaller vehicle to drive around Port-au-Prince. It will also save us a lot of money instead of having to pay someone everyday to get things done here in Port.

When we left Love A Child, we went up to Z'Orangé and delivered the food. In the photos you will see the excitement of the children as they help unload it. It is such a blessing for me to be a part of God’s plan helping others. For me, there is no greater joy than helping others in His name. They always want to thank me but I always tell them to thank God. I ask them if they prayed that God would send them food and they say yes. Then I tell them, that is why you need to thank Him, not me. He just used me to answer your prayer.

It was a long day, we left here at 7 a.m. and I got back after 7 p.m. The heat really drains you, especially in Gabriel with all the noise and dust, but after a cold shower, I felt great.

    Report from Brother Chuck
Another day of God’s plan and not mine. Today I felt pretty good about going to get the van so I waited patiently for a call from Nelio to tell me he had the insurance papers. He told me he would call me in the morning and I met up with him around noon and got the papers. Now I’m ready to go get our van. The only problem is that I keep forgetting this is God’s van and He will let me use it when He is ready. I have already worked on getting this for two days and I think that I should be able to go get it, but God is not ready to release it yet. On our way out to Love A Child to pick it up, Bobby called me and told me that we needed to have the complete transfer done before we could pick it up because if we had an accident they would be liable. I surely didn’t want that to happen so I told him we would wait till all the paper work was done. So now we have to wait for the paper work to be finished and George will have to make a trip back down from the Northwest to sign the papers. I have to admit the flesh got the best of me and I was frustrated but I have been coming to Haiti for 10 years and I should be used to it, but the flesh wants what it wants. After I got over this I had to ask the Lord to forgive me and told Him I forgot that it was His van, not mine. He is always molding me and helping me recognize my weaknesses. He says He disciplines those he loves. I believe He really, really loves me sometimes. I have to remember I must decrease while He increases.

After feeling I accomplished nothing all day, I remembered He had a wonderful gift for me this evening. The gift that gives me the greatest joy, sharing the message of His love. This is the first time I have been to Jerusalem 3. It really reminded me of some small villages that we have preached at in India. It is on the outer edge of Port-au-Prince in a very run down area where most block buildings are half finished. We drove down some narrow trashy dirt alleys and parked. Then we walked between two walls to an opening that was a yard area with some big trees. This was Jerusalem 3. There were only about 20 people there and they started singing. This little church began because a man started VBS there every Saturday about a year or so ago for the children and older people started coming. After we sang for a while, they introduced me and the Holy Spirit immediately filled me. I had so much joy as I told them about the grace that our Lord has given us and that our purpose was to glorify Him and tell everyone of His Love. As I spoke the Holy Spirit started pulling people in. They were coming from around buildings, walls, trees from everywhere. Some were standing; some sitting on the ground, some on rocks as they intently listened to the Word of God. You could feel the Spirit and see it in their eyes; chills came over me as He spoke through me. When I finished it was kind of strange as they all clapped and shouted with joy from the Spirit.

The Lord reminded me, it is not about a van or a building; it is about Him and His people. We must go into all the world and feed the people His Word.

What a glorious day with the Lord.
    I leave you with this:
"Jesus leads us into the heart of the dark Kingdom . . .
He takes us where mankind has chosen to live.
He calls us to where the darkness has made those who wander there desperate for light.
He leads us as warriors of light to risk our lives for the deliverance of others
    ."

What a great honor this was. Thank you for supporting me to be here. God bless

As usual I ended up on God’s schedule today instead of mine. My plan was to go out to Love A Child and pick up the van that they have given us. I had breakfast and got ready to go and got a phone call from Nelio from Love A Child telling me that the van had no insurance and that they could not give it to me without insurance. We are putting the van in George Truelove’s name because he has Haitan papers so George and I, instead of going out to Love A Child, had to go find Nelio and give him George’s papers so he can file for the insurance; this took all morning. Hopefully Nelio will call us in the morning to go pick it up. Nelio is saving us a lot of time and energy by helping us get the papers transferred.

After this I was able to go to a supply house and get the rest of the prices on materials for the church. We had lunch about 3 p.m. with Carol Ann and Natasha, and that was the end of the day.

Port-au-Prince is not my favorite place but this is where I have to prepare for the trips. I would much rather be out in the country in Z'Orangé.

The last couple of days have been pretty hot here and a good cold shower in the evening is a real treat; there is no hot water anyway but if there was, you wouldn’t need it. Thank goodness in the late evening we have been getting some rain.

Part of trip down here is to get a material list to build a church that Pastor Harry pastors. The First Baptist Church of St. Charles asked me last year to help them with this project. You would think this would be a simple job but nothing is simple in Haiti; there are always communication problems. I put in our mission trip package, with instructions about coming to Haiti, that even though someone speaks a little English, they do not, do not understand everything that you are saying. Here is a perfect example: this is one of my interpreters (now take into consideration the miscommunication goes both ways). We were talking to a man about purchasing concrete for the foundation of a 40’ by 80’ church. He went into his office and after a while he came out with an estimate of over 4 million U.S. dollars. I told him there must be some kind of mistake and he said no, he was right. After a while we figured out he had misunderstood the measurements a little. The cost was a little over $4,000.00.

When we finished with that we spent the rest of the day going from place to place getting estimates on loads of rock, gravel, sand, rebar etc. It is hard to explain how tiring a day it is here when you’re in the heat all day but it was a great day working for the Lord.

What a wonderful Sunday the Lord gave me! I had the opportunity to share the Gospel with Jerusalem 4.

It is hard to believe that the Lord has started 3 mission churches from the one mission church started just 5 years ago. I am so blessed to work with Pastor Dorleon who truly loves the Lord with all his heart. This little thatched roof church reminds me so much of Jerusalem 2 the first time we went up there. What is really interesting about it is that it is only 15 minutes from a village that practices voodoo ceremonies that are known all over this country. There is a big waterfall there where they perform their witchcraft.

As God moved His light into Z'Orangé and is shattering the darkness, He is now taking the Sword into the heart of the serpent. Halleluiah!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you, Jesus, for allowing TEM to be a part of this.

Pastor Fritznel is the pastor of Jerusalem 4, and he was very happy that I could come and preach. He attended the Pastor's Conference in Z'Orangé in March and told me to tell Pastor Ken of Pensacola and Karl Leiber of St. Louis how much he appreciated what he had learned from them and the others.

After church we went back to Z'Orangé and Madame Dorleon prepared a wonderful Haitian Lunch, as usual; much better than the Haitian restaurant.

When we finished lunch, Pastor Dorleon talked about the school project and the needs. We are a long way from finishing but we both agree it will be finished in God's time, not ours.

We returned back to Port-au-Prince and I received a call from George and Carol Ann Truelove that I had been expecting. They just came into Port today and I told them I would take them to dinner. We went to Domino's Pizza; yes, they have one of those here and it isn’t that bad. I always enjoy my time with them. Together, they have about 60 years in Haiti. After dinner they dropped me off at Dottie's.

Dottie had to go to the States unexpectedly and asked me to watch the Guest House so Brown (Bull Dog) and I are watching the place. He is my protector; you’ll see why I say that when you see his picture.

Saturday was a quiet day just taking care of a few things but the highlight of my day was having lunch with the interpreters and Ginette. Last time we went to a Chinese restaurant here in Port-au-Prince. Yes, you read right, a Chinese restaurant. I didn’t see any Chinese so you can imagine how the food was, and we had a 1 1/2 hour wait and we were the only ones there. So this time I asked another interpreter to choose and we went to a Haitian restaurant. The food was not bad but we had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes. You learn unless you have plenty of time, don’t go eat or go about 1 o’clock and that way you can have lunch and supper.

Here I am after a long trip from Ft. Walton Beach, FL, to Atlanta, GA, to New York City, NY, to Haiti. It is a long story so I won’t tell it to you. I actually arrived Thursday and got settled in at Dottie’s Guest House. Today was a typical day in Haiti, I had my plan and God had His. His always rules over mine. My plan was to go out to Love A Child, pick up Gabriel (military truck), and go renew the papers and tags; good plan but not His. When I arrived the first thing I saw was a flat tire. Then after checking all the fluids and connecting the battery, it would not start. After checking the acid in the batteries, I realized that the acid had evaporated and the batteries were completely dead. Thank the Lord for Love A Child having a battery charger. After going to buy battery acid, I put the batteries on charge. While they were charging, I filled up the brake fluid and added oil to differentials and then hooked up the batteries again. It still would not start; the batteries had not been charged long enough. As I was talking with Jojo and Bob at Love A Child I found out that I could not renew my papers after all. They will only let you renew them 30 days before the due date, which is in November. So His plan saved me a full day in downtown Port-au-Prince finding out that I couldn’t renew my papers; thank you, Jesus.

Anyway I left the truck at Love A Child and Bob is charging my batteries for me so when I return on Thursday to receive the food that they distribute to us from Feed My Starving Children, Gabriel will be ready to roll.

It was a great day in the Lord; a stress free day filled with joy that only comes from Him.

    JADA
    Report from Brother Chuck
I had another wonderful evening with my brothers in Christ at the JADA house. It has always been my honor and privilege to speak to these men because just ten years ago that was me. Now I have a road behind me to tell them that there is another way, a better way, The Way. I hope that I encourage them as much as they encourage me. Thank you, Don and Tom, for continuing to invite me to tell of our glorious Lord.

Will Tiller and I spent the weekend in Batesburg, SC, where we had an absolutely wonderful time with the First Baptist Church of Batesburg family. Pastor Philip McNeal allowed us to speak at both church services, and during Sunday School, Betty Summer shared with her class about Haiti and Will spoke to the youth. Several members of First Baptist Church have gone to Haiti with us and it was great to see them again.

Thank you Pastor Philip for inviting us; we truly feel like family when we come to visit.

    Beulah Baptist Church, Pensacola, FL
    Report from Brother Chuck
Pastor Ken Loubriel invited me to preach on Sunday night in Pensacola at Beulah Baptist Church. I have spoken there several times before, and I was welcomed as usual with a warm welcome and familiar faces.

As I started my message, I started out with, "God has a sense of humor . . .& because I had some notes that I had read on the way over to Pensacola but when I was about to preach, the notes had disappeared. I searched my bible several times, went out to my van and they were no where to be found. Well, as usual God did a great job without notes and as I sat down, I just happened to open my bible and there were the notes. In John 14:26, Jesus said, "the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send in my name will teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance." We can always stand on His promises.

Thank you, Pastor Ken, for allowing me share the message of our Lord Jesus Christ.

    TEM Board Meeting
    Report from Brother Chuck
TEM had its second board meeting of the year, and what an exciting time it was going over all the projects that the Lord has had us involved in! I am so blessed to have a board of directors that are all in agreement about the direction the Lord is leading the ministry. The Lord truly chose these men and women to help guide me. It says in Proverbs, "a wise man has many counselors."

Mission Trip to Haiti / July 25 - August 1, 2009

  • Overview
    Report from Brittany Tiller
    Brittany’s Experience:
WOW! That word explains this trip for me this week. My dad asked me a couple months back if I would like to come on this trip to northwest Haiti, but I would be one the only girl and two the only one my age. So I thought about it and I just couldn't say no, I knew I couldn't just let go a chance of coming here to Haiti no matter the circumstances. Man am I glad I did. This week, just one week, I've been able to take part of three deliveries, I have ridden through and been flown through Haiti (what a beautiful place God has created), and been able to strengthen my relationship with both my earthly and heavenly Father. This week has opened my eyes to the people of Haiti like never before! When we went to Z'Orangé, I got to see and hang out with the kids there. It was great. Two sisters that have really inspired me in so many different areas of my life were there too. There names are Elimise and Vannessia. I got the opportunity, with the help of Simon one of our interpreters, to pull Elimise the older sister to the side and tell her what I thought of her and how God is using her in her village to share Christ with her friends and family and that she has such a strong personality which is such a great gift from God. I told her that I can see how she protects her sister and loves her very much and that is such a good thing and I appreciated that from her. I ended the conversation by telling her that she was a beautiful little girl, her and her sister both. Her smile just spoke a thousand words to me of gratitude. This began our week's journey. The next day we got up and left to catch a plane to northwest Haiti. The mountains and oceans were incredible! We arrived that day at around ten a.m. Man, this place is tough. Culture shock for sure! I have been able to meet two really great people that God has really used in this part of the country. Their names are George and Carol Ann Truelove. Carol Ann is such a neat woman; she has a medical clinic and has usually around two to three deliveries a week. But amazingly she has had four in one week! I got to participate in three. My first one that I helped with was very emotional for me. I first went in there and the mother was in a hot sweat and in so much pain, just seeing that alone my heart went out to her and I tried to give her comfort in any way I could, when I looked around I saw there was no one there for support and comfort for her. I just felt so sorry for that lady. Then before I knew it, out came one foot, the second one and then a THIRD! Shortly after we had realized that it was Siamese twins. It all happened so fast! Never before in Carol Ann's twenty something years of delivering babies had she ever seen Siamese twins, let alone deliver them. So of course it would only make sense for me to be there and that to be my first experience! We started to pray then we were praying out loud throughout, what seemed like forever, the delivery. Unfortunately they died, but it was a miracle with in itself that they came out and that the mother is still alive. I can not even imagine being born into a place like Haiti, let alone being socially not accepted. God knew what he was doing from the moment the twins were created. It was so hard at first to understand why God would do this and make it be my first experience in the medical clinic, but God knew that there were still more perfectly normal deliveries coming right along the way. They were the cutest babies I had ever seen. I got to hold them both and tears just came to my eyes of the fact that they were alive here in my arms. God is good for sure, and I have done nothing but thank him these past few days for my family and the place I live and my friends. Haiti literally feels like my second home I have become so used to it here, minus the bugs. That I have not gotten used to, as you can see from the pictures I am the only one with a mosquito net up around my bed, actually I am about to go get my dad to kill a spider that is in my room now… yuck! But any ways we are truly, with out a doubt, such a blessed nation and so many of us take it for granted. Thank you for those of you who have prayed for each of us individually and as a group for this trip. Your prayers were greatly appreciated by all of us, merci (thank you).

    Report from Brother Chuck
Another busy day in Haiti; after breakfast, we started another small project at the clinic. We replaced some tin on an entryway to the clinic and put tin on the gable of the entrance. When we finished, we had a delicious barbeque sandwich that Carol Ann made for us. After lunch, we went to Marge Rouge, which is only about twenty minutes away, to visit a good friend of mine named Edner. Since I saw him last, he has gotten married and had a little boy, which they named Chuck. You will see him in the pictures. After visiting him, we went to see Linda Blankenship (American missionary) and saw her house and garden. We then left to go over to visit with Steve and Faith Leach and Rich and Marge Byers. God has truly blessed them; they have so many projects going, besides the medical clinic. They have built over 200 cisterns this year so far. They also have feeding programs, Aids and TB programs, just to mention a few.

Steve gave us a tour of the facilities and afterwards we had pizza at Rich and Marge’s house. We had a wonderful time visiting, praying and talking about what the Lord has been doing in our lives. We stayed up after 11:30, which is really late for us.

    Report from Kenny Phillips
Today we did a small repair on the front gable to the entrance to the medical clinic. This was a small project but an important one. There is a lot of work to do up here at George and Carol Ann’s and I am sure that we will start planning return trips this way to help out. After we finished this odd job, we took off to visit and spend the night at Bombordopolis where missionaries Steve and Faith Leach live. They have a very well ran medical clinic, doctors office complete with x-ray, examination rooms and surgery center. Very clean and nice compound. This is also where the Widow’s home is that was built about three years ago. Missionaries Rich and Marge Byers also live on the compound. Really nice area, with lots of needs. At night we all went to Rich and Marge’s house and had homemade pizza and coke. Awesome! We had a great night sleep at the Leach’s and all is good. Bombord is about an hour and a half ride from Sentrain where we have been for the last three days.

This morning I didn’t hear the girl yelling for Brittany to go play soccer but at 5 a.m. Brittany left to go play. You will enjoy the pictures of her and her soccer buddies. When she returned we were up and had breakfast and started back on the roof.

Brittany actually saw a baby boy being born this morning. She has been such a help for Carol Ann.

Carol Ann made us some delicious sandwiches for lunch, between seeing patients and delivering babies, and we started back on the roof. Halleluiah, we finished late this afternoon with the help of some of our Haitian friends.

Tomorrow we are going over to Steve and Faith Leaches to spend the night. I am really looking forward to seeing the Widows Home.

    Report from Kenny Phillips
A very hard day today. Of course every day is hard in Haiti. Had a killer breakfast that would help jump start the day that God had in store for us. We started tearing the old metal roof to prepare for the new metal. This is so cool. This is something God laid on my heart about a year ago. George has helped Truth Ministries out so much and he has always been so kind to me. He told me a need and God just said "Hey dude do it". He needed a new roof over his depot. I spoke with Chuck about this and we were in agreement so here we are. As we began to tear the roof off, a prayer need came out of the clinic that Carol Ann runs in this tiny village of Sentrain. There was a breech birth about to happen. About a half hour later word came that not only was it a breech birth but also it was twins. Siamese twins at that. They were joined at the stomach. Can you imagine this going on in a place where specialized help is very far away? Carol Ann has delivered 100's of babies but this was a first. The babies did not make it and it was a bummer of a scene. Wills daughter Brittany wanted to work in the clinic today with the baby deliveries. Fifteen years old and this was her first time ever to be exposed to this type of stuff, never the less what she just witnessed. Trust me when you volunteer for clinic work you are right in the middle of it all. It really upset her. Tuff stuff! The life that these babies were going to live would have been extremely hard. It is hard when you’re healthy. Well, these little children are in the arms of Jesus and they never saw sin. God new what he was doing. At least the mother is OK. A short time later another birth took place and all went well. Brittany got to hold the new born little boy. God gives and He takes away. Hard to understand that sometimes but He does know what’s going on and how to deal with it. We got the first half of the roof pulled off and the new metal put on. We could not have done it without the help of a young Haitian man named Ilsonet. Will met this dude a while back and he wanted to help us. Praise God he did. This roof is sketchy at best. I am beat. Noche, noche.

Today after breakfast we went to the small airport in Port to fly up to Mole St. Nichol on MAF (Missionary Aviation Flights). We left about 10 a.m. and arrived at Mole St. Nichol in about 45 minutes. This sure beats driving a military truck for about 15 to 18 hours. George Truelove met us at the airstrip, which is nothing but a field and a wind funnel. It takes about an hour and a half to reach George’s. Steve Leach met us halfway to pick up a circuit board that I had brought in for an X-ray machine. Praise the Lord, this is what it needed to be fixed.

When we arrived at George and Carol Ann’s, Carol Ann had lunch prepared for us and had my favorite homemade bread. After lunch, Kenny, Will and I went with George to show us the tool shed that we will be putting a new roof on this week. I should say they will be putting on because after my hip surgery, I will be the gopher for them.

Carol Ann has taken Brittany under her wing and she has been helping Carol Ann with everything. She fits right in and is such a joy to have with us.

Kenny got a phone call today and found out his daughter, Rachel, has the swine flu so please be praying for her.

    Report from Kenny Phillips
We left Dottie’s guest house this morning and headed to the airport to MAF, Mission Aviation Fellowship to catch a bush plane up to Mole St. Nichol. It is about a forty five minute flight from Port Au Prince. From there we will travel to Sentrain where George and Carol Ann Truelove live and serve. Once up in the air the view was incredible. I have always wanted to head up this way and it is so cool that God gave me a chance. Bush planes are always so sketchy feeling, in a good way though. Kind of like dropping into a big wave over a shallow reef. Anyway once we approached the air strip at Mole St. Nichol or landing dirt road I should say we were greeted by George Truelove. Mole is a coastal town with beautiful clear water. Not really sure what goes on there but I am sure fishing is a big part of it. After driving through Mole we headed to Marerouge and then on to Sentrain. Once we arrived in Sentrain we got settled in at the guest house, had lunch and chilled. I walked around a bit and talked to a few locals and snapped off a few shots. It is much different up here. I can feel I am close to the coast. We scoped out the work for the roof and continued to chill for the rest of the afternoon. George and Carol Ann run a medical clinic that encompasses so much more than I know about. I will find out more tomorrow. Wow! When it gets dark up here it gets dark. God is so awesome!

We had a great day today in the Lord. We left Dotties' house and went up to Z'Orangé, and as usual, Pastor Do wanted one of us to preach so I said I would. I preached about vision, about how people without a vision perish. I told them about the vision God has given me about Z'Orangé, the mission house, the medical house, finishing the school, the playground for the kids, the well for water for all the people in the area, etc. I told them how important it was for them to be praying if this is what they want and they all eagerly agreed to pray. When I finish I walked outside and to my amazement, the well had been dug. David Heady and his crew from Global Outreach Ministry in Haiti had finished the well on Tuesday. Hallelujah, Hallelujah! This is just the beginning of what God is going to do in Z'Orangé. Our Lord said He will do exceedly, abundantly more than we can think or ask for, and I don't only believe this, I know it. Thank you, Lord, first, and David Heady and Global Outreach. Afterwards, we visited with Madame Philistine and Slyvest (former voodoo priest). We have videos (under Needs) showing the need for a new house for Madame Philistine and to rebuild Sylvest's house, and we plan to video the progress of each. We do this through the church so no one knows where the money comes from. I would like to thank the people who have helped us start this project and if anyone would like to help us finish these houses, please contact us. What a joy it is to see their smiling faces of joy as God's children in America help them. Afterwards, Pastor Dorleon's wife cooked us a wonderful Haitian meal. We also saw the progress of the school, which still needs a lot of work. The Lord is providing step by step on this project. We are praying we can have all the concrete work done, along with windows and doors, before they start school. We are also going to have desks made for the kids. This is a big project. We also discussed leasing some land on which we can grow large amounts of food to help the community. I'm very excited about this. God just continues to bless us. Please continue to pray for us and TEM.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. We did get a good night sleep even though it was very hot. We got up early and headed up the mountain to the village of Z'Orangé. This is an exciting day for me because we will see Pastor Fanilus (the pastor that was in a very bad accident) and hopefully John Wesley the voodoo priest that I have made an incredible friendship with. When we arrived in the village the first thing we did was go to church. I love worship in Haiti. It always seems so pure and lets face it God wants a pure and holy people. In the first chapter of Isaiah God tells us that he is tired of the empty sacrifices that we offer. Wow! During the church service I saw Pastor and Sister Fani in the service. After church I had a chance to spend some time with this couple that I have grown to love so much. They are staying in the village and have not got back up to the mountain. I can tell that he is still struggling a lot and is no where near himself. They are so ready to get back to their village where they are needed but it is such a long and hard walk up the mountain and he is just not up to it. We must continue to pray that God will continue to heal him. I just know that God has got beautiful plans for this family. I also saw Yolene, John Wesley’s wife in church. I also spent some time with her. She and John are back together living with her mother way up on a mountain. Their baby is sick so we helped her with some money to get the child to the doctor. At this time John was no where to be seen. Praise God his wife has found the truth. After lunch we went around the village and looked at a few projects that are under way through TRUTH Ministries. I thank God daily that he has allowed GMSM to yoke up with this ministry. This was only a day trip to the village and as we were leaving John Wesley walked up. It was good to see him but it will be better to see him when he seeks out the truth and surrenders his life to Christ. Tomorrow we leave for Mole St. Nicholi and a new journey.

Report from Kenny Phillips, Give Me Shelter Ministries
Always an adventure when flying with Spirit. Who you say, yep that says it all… el cheapo. We meet at the Truth office at 3:00 and drove to Pensacola. This is the first time we have flown out of P’Cola and it saved us about $400.00 so that is very cool with me. The savings can go towards another effort in Haiti or Mexico. It is always a drawn out day and we arrived in PAP (Port Au Prince) around 5:00 pm. We made it but the luggage and supplies did not, another first. Can you say flexibility? I sure can, we have no other choice. All we have is what we got off the plane with. Hope the stuff comes in tomorrow because we fly north on Monday morning. You know what though, what we have with us now is a lot more than most people in Haiti. We are still so blessed even in times when we may think we have it bad. GMSM is here in Haiti with Chuck Martindale, Will Tiller and his daughter Brittany. So cool that a 15 year old would choose to spend some of her summer vacation serving the Lord in a hot, desolate area of the world where most people have forgotten. Is that not what it is all about? Serve and not self serve. We head to Z'Orangé to spend the day in the village and visit pastor Fani before we take off up North. Look forward to seeing our friends in the village; I hope I see John Wesley.

    Cuban family reunited
TEM began praying in August of 2007 to see if we were supposed to help Teo try to get his daughter and his two grandsons out of Cuba. After I prayed about it I let the need be known and God started answering the prayer that TEM was supposed to help. God provided the money, and then we had to wait upon another country's bureaucracy. Almost 2 years to the month Teo and his wife were reunited with his daughter and grandsons. Hallelujah!

  • Brother Chuck - Update
Praise the Lord, Brother Chuck's surgery went well. He is out of the hospital and now recuperating at home. His rehab is progressing better than expected. In fact, to the surprise of the nurses, he was able to walk the hospital hallway the day after his surgery! Please pray for his continued great recovery. Some will be praying that he doesn't push it :)

We finally started assembling the pews. Work began about 6:30 and we worked till about 7:00 in the evening. There was plenty of local help and when we got our system down we were beginning to look like we knew what we were doing. Twenty pews were built total and I know Pastor Fanilus will be stoked. He was supposed to have his surgery today. I will not know anything until we come back to Port. All in all it was a great day of hammering and banging with my bros in Christ. This may very well have been one of the hardest days of work that I have put in here in Haiti. Chuck worked us hard today and I know we all felt it. God protected us and gave us strength.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow. What a night it was! After the rain it got so cool that I even got a little chilly a couple of times. Trust me, that is a good thing when the days are blistering. Ginette gave us a nice breakfast and we began the wait for gas to put in the generator. Chuck, George and Simon went back to Port to take care of a few things. Once the gas arrived we started prefabricating the lumber to be used to make the new pews for Pastor Fanilus and Jerusalem II. It was so cool to have some of the young men help us out. Even Ginette was a tremendous help. Although there was a language barrier of sorts they caught on quick to me and Joe's plan. Before long we had a cool assemble line going and the work went so smooth and it was great fun fellowshipping with my brother and sisters. There is a lot that goes on during the day around the church. One of the main things is the school. It is so neat to see the children in dress uniforms and learning. School costs money so there are a lot of children that do not attend school. We spent many hours ripping and cutting lumber to get it ready and I think without the help the Lord provided for us, we would not have gotten as much done as we did. You know something I was thinking about today was that I have not even seen John Wesley. I am not even sure if he ever rented the house that Chuck and I gave him the money for so he and his family could be together. When the guys returned from Port I learned that Pastor Fani had gotten some much needed blood from the Red Cross so he could have his surgery. I am still not sure when this surgery is going to take place but I do know that if he was in the U.S. this would have been taken care of long ago. We will all continue to pray and lift him up .Tomorrow we will start mass producing the pews.

After leaving the guest house we had e few more errands to run before we headed up the mountain. Chuck and I drove in the big truck and George and Joe drove together; we all met at the lumber store to get the supplies for the pews for Jerusalem II. After the lumber run we had some lunch and picked up food supplies. From that point we split up. Joe, myself, Ginette and Simon took Gabriel up the mountain while Chuck and George stayed in Port to take care of some business. I drove all through town and up the mountain to Z'Orangé. Praise God for a new path. The new road makes things a whole lot easier. I am glad that Chuck feels comfortable with me to help with the ministry. Once we arrived in Z'Orangé we unloaded the truck and set up camp. It was neat to see the kids helping us to unload the lumber and set things up. It started raining and stopped us from working so we ate supper and chilled. This is being written on the morning of the 27th and I have no pictures because of my weakness in task performance. I accidentally erased them from my memory card. Live and learn.

Today was a great day with our Lord in Haiti. It seemed like an easy day, which is very unusual in Haiti. It was as if we were resting in the Lord and getting everything done that needed to be done. Kenny and I went in one direction while Joe and George went into another; the divide and conquer strategy. Kenny and I checked on a child that is with World Vision, set up a cell phone, exchanged money, visited Pastor Fanilus in the hospital, sent an e-mail for the website and picked up Gabriel (truck) out at Love A Child. To be able to do that many things in Haiti is a great day.

George and Joe went to exchange some shocks that George had purchased for his truck, do some welding on his truck, checked on a digital cell air card for our computers and picked up dinner for us.

We all arrived home before 5 p.m., which is the earliest I have ever finished with work in Port-au-Prince.

Tomorrow we will head up to Z'Orangé and start working on building the benches for Jerusalem II.

Joe Hutchinson, Kenny Phillips and I arrived in Haiti today about 5:30 p.m. and we were picked up by missionary George Truelove. He took us to a new place to stay called Blue Ridge & Life Ministries. This is a very nice place with an apartment that sleeps 7 to 8, and food included in the price. Someone even made a coffee cake for us.

Pastor Harry called me a couple of days before we arrived in Haiti and asked me to preach on the last day of the revival at his church. I told him I would if the Lord got us in Port on time, and He did so I guess the Lord wanted me to preach. As always I enjoyed it immensely. I always enjoy telling people what a gracious, loving God we have. The Lord chose two young girls to the Kingdom on this night. Hallelujah!!!!!!

Tomorrow we will get Gabriel (truck) and pick up materials to finish Jerusalem II. We will also be going by to visit Pastor Fanilus who is in the hospital and will be having surgery this week. Please be praying for him.

I had the pleasure again to visit Rocky Bayou Christian School in Niceville, FL, where Adam Downing attends. Adam has made two trips to Haiti and on his last trip, he preached one evening. Adam was going to share with his classmates about his Haiti trip and he invited me to speak also. As always, I had a great time, and Adam did a great job showing photos to the class and telling them about his trip. Everyone watched and listened intently and afterward I had several students ask me more about the trip. I will be giving Adam some DVDs that he will pass on to some of these students so they can share them with their student pastors at their churches.

Thank you, Rocky Bayou Christian School, for having me come and share what the Lord is doing in Haiti.

Another Bargain Sale by the Seniors of Wright Baptist Church. TEM was once again exceedingly and abundantly blessed by the Seniors of WBC. They worked tirelessly for three days to help fund projects in Haiti, from food distribution to health care to building schools. TEM wants to thank all of you that helped with the Bargain Sale. Because of your hard work the Lord blessed us with a little over $2,000.00 from the sale of items that people were throwing away. See God uses everything to His glory, even junk.

    Gang Rescue
    Report from Brother Chuck
Art Wilson, with Gang Rescue, from the Niceville Area, invited me to speak at the Ft. Walton Beach treatment detention center to the young men that are being detained there. I have spoken there several times, as well as at the one in Defuniak Springs. Again, I had a great time speaking to these young men about our Lord Jesus. All of the ones that I spoke with have accepted Christ and are hungry for the Lord, thanks to Art's ministry. They choose to come to the meetings that Art sets up each Sunday. I hope that the Holy Spirit through me helped them know that there is another way besides the way of life that they were leading and that it will be difficult when they get out. I shared with them how I had gone down the wrong path for forty-four years but the Lord showed me another way, a much better way. I showed them some DVD's of the Youth Trips that we take to Haiti to show them that the Lord has an adventure out there for them and all they have to do is follow Him. I have always invited these young men to come to Haiti with me if He calls them to go, and I pray that one day one of these young men will hear the call.

Gang Rescue takes the love and compassion of Christ into the detention centers of Ft. Walton Bch, Crestview, Milton and Holt. To learn more about Gang Rescue go to: www.gangrescue.org

Sharing Haiti with a Youth Group
    Report from Brother Chuck
    View photos
Sarah Craig, from Trinity Methodist Church, invited me to the United Methodist Church of Mary Esther on Sunday night to share with the youth. The youth from several Methodist churches in the area were meeting together there so it was an opportune time to talk about the recent Haiti youth trip. I invited Will Tiller and his daughter, Brittany, to share about Haiti and what the trip meant to them. We were welcomed by Sarah and the youth director, Jeff Stovall, among many others. It was an exciting time while all the students and adults listened intently as we spoke of the wonderful work that God is doing in Haiti. Brittany, who is a little on the shy side, did a great job. She has been to Haiti three times and her ministry there is working with the children. It was amazing to see how comfortable she became as she spoke of her experiences in Haiti. We had several people that showed interest in joining us next year.

As most people know, TEM is non-denominational, and I believe that our Lord looks down and smiles as we break through those walls of denominations and just serve our Lord Jesus.

Thank you Sarah and Pastor Tim for having us and thank you Brittany for sharing. And I guess I will thank you too Will, but this is what you do. :)

    Waterfront Rescue Mission
    Report from Brother Chuck
Pastor George at Waterfront Rescue Mission is truly a wonderful man of the Lord. If you have not met him you have missed a treat. He not only loves the Lord but everyone that He created.

I was invited to speak at Waterfront Rescue Mission on Tuesday night and what a joy! Thirteen years ago, that was me sitting in those pews so I was able to tell them the miracles that the Lord has done in my life since the amazing day of grace that was given to me. When I speak at places like this it reminds me of 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 which says, "Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforteth us in all our affliction, that we may be able to comfort them that are in any affliction, through the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God." ASV

This is part of the reason of our salvation is to tell others of the miracle that the Lord has done in our lives to give them Hope, and that Hope is Jesus.

    Thank you, Pastor George.

Pastor David Duval at Northbay Baptist Church in Niceville, FL, invited me to perform the Sermon on the Mount. Hershel Adams, of Emerald Coast Fellowship of Baptist Churches, told Pastor David that I perform Sermon on the Mount in character so Pastor David asked me to come and share it with the North Bay Baptist congregation.

I stopped by earlier in the week to meet with Pastor David. We had a great visit talking about our Lord and what He has done in our lives. I told him about the work in Haiti that the Lord has had me do during the last 10 years and he has invited me to share with this with the congregation in June.

I had a wonderful time at North Bay Baptist and I look forward to my visit June. Thank you Pastor David for inviting me.

Today I was invited to Rocky Bayou Christian School by James Riches, who has been inviting me now for about three years to share what God is doing in the country of Haiti. I always enjoy this time with the kids and encourage them when they get older to go to third world countries so they can truly see the poor of the world, where people their age have to get up early in the morning around 5 a.m. to walk a hour or more to get the water the family will need for the day. I want them to experience first hand people sleeping on the ground in a hut with no running water and no electricity and no bathrooms. I have yet to see a young or older person not appreciate what they have in America when they return from Haiti. It truly is a life changing trip. I brought some things from Haiti to share with them, and they had many questions, as young people do. I hope they enjoyed my visit as much as I did. Thank you, James, for the opportunity.
